MEC Motlhabane urges disadvantaged Communities to take Advantage of the Traffic Learnership Advert that Closes on the 29 January 2019 The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management runs an advertisement for Road Traffic Management Learnership Programme, 2019/20. The advertisement was release early in January 2019 and distributed to media, through departmental website, through government emails, delivered to all Tribal Councils of the province as well to all municipalities. "This advert is in-keeping with the department’s commitment to intensify traffic law enforcement operations. The intake will surely enhance visibility of traffic officers on the road. It will have a bearing in reducing road incidences and accidents. The road fatalities and road crashes in our major as well as busy roads of the province will be monitored and drastically lessened". Said MEC Motlhabane. On completion of the recruitment processes, the selected young men and women will begin their physical training and academic program at a traffic management for a period of 12 months. They will further be skilled regarding the proper use of breathalysers, firearms and speed recording machines. "I want to, however, reiterate that the closing date for the advert is the 29 January 2019. I am emphasising this, because we have recently been inundated with enquiries about the same. There seem to have been a notice shared with the same details. The advert on the department's official letterhead reflects the closing date as 29 January 2019. However, the one circulated and shared by other social media and some websites shows that the closing date as 17 March 2019. We appreciate it when people become creative and share official departmental information. However, they must ensure that they share the correct details as captured in the source document.” Concluded MEC Mokgantshang Motlhabane. Over the past few years, this disturbing phenomenon has been rearing its ugly head, wherein bogus online links, bogus websites and scams have been created to share distorted information. The South African Police service also opened a case after a scammer was arrested for exhorting money from innocent youngsters. Communities are urged to take advantage of this advertisement, encourage young people to apply and submit their applications on or before the 29th January 2019.
